The lagoon of Canaima is located in the middle of the Canaima national park in the south east of Venezuela.

The size if the park is bigger than Belgium and only the Pemon Indians are allowed to settle inside.

In Canaima, the Rio Carraro is flowing over several waterfalls into the lagoon. In the past the Indians used to avoid the lagoon since they believed that it is the home of evil.

Only when some adventures found the lagoon and it started to attract tourists, the Indians moved into this area.

The El Sapo - the frog - waterfall is caved and allows crossing it by walking behind the falling water.

Crossing the Gran Sabana

At the Orinoco
